A few days ago I was driving home down a mountain road not far from my home. A piece of heavy equipment traveling in the opposite direction dropped a rock on my windshield, shattering it. Today I traveled north to have the windshield replaced and on my way home stopped by this familiar spot on lake St. Catherine, just outside Wells, Vermont. It was a spectacularly beautiful day and if I hadn’t had that unanticipated encounter with a wayward rock, none of us could enjoy this image. Funny how things work like that.
